Recent stories by and about cherise

How I met kimya dawson

Last night (September 16, 2007) I saw her open for Bright Eyes at the Captiol Theater in Olympia, WA.

She is amazingly talented and awesome live, by the way.

After the show, she walked out with husband, baby, and equipment in tow and I said hello and told her how much I enjoyed her show.

She was really sweet and sincere.

How I met Conor Oberst

Last night (September 16, 2007) I went to the Bright Eyes show in Olympia, WA at the Captiol Theater.

After the show, my friends and I headed for this bar called the Brotherhood for a drink.

About ten minutes after we sat down, Conor and his entourage arrived. My friend and I said hello to him when he was at the ATM.

He is super nice, and Mike is also super nice.

At last call, my friends and I ended up walking drunken Conor and very drunken Mike and others back to their tour bus. With an “I love you guys” from Conor we parted ways.

I’m seeing them next weekend at Seattle’s EndFest and I’m super excited.

Why I like cherise

Because Its just plain easy to do.

I think she said we were like peas in a pod once.

Granted, right now it’s peas in a very-busy-school-oriented-man-I-wish-it-was-summer pod, but we’re in it nonetheless.

And I see her everywhere randomly. Especially when I call to tell her about an event and find that she’s already there.

Why I want to meet cherise

What am I looking for, on the internet?

I’m searching for myself, I think.

‘Ramshackle’ – Beck

I’m looking around for ideas, inspiration, memories, dreams, goals, action… I’m looking for stories. I’m looking for business ideas. I’m looking for song titles. I’m looking for topics to write about. I’m looking for interesting people to write about. I’m looking for interesting places to write about (enough with the hyperlinks, already!!). I’m looking for interesting events and products. The internet is an etherdreamworld for the inspired writer.

I don’t know this girl. Who really knows anybody?

This is how she appears to me…

A very prolific blogger. An internet-omnipresent writer. A ‘zine enthusiast, perhaps to the level of creating one herself or helping others create one (or many?). I like to write too, and one of my dreams is to make a living as a writer, so I think I could live vicariously through this one.

‘Bruce Weezersteen’ – docrivs

Writers are intersting. Period. I was reading the writings of a sex writer earlier. I have no idea how I found her site, as web surfing goes. I know I linked to her from a blog. The blog was on a site put together by a girl who claims to be a feminist and writes about female masturbation and such. She’s a good writer too.

But, back to endofauniverse, aka cherise…

An indie rock fan, amongst other alternative rock styles. She seems to have a taste in music that I can handle. I like a wide variety of music, and I think there is music for any mood and moods for any music. I had to listen to music after listening to the music on her MySpace page.

She had (still has?) a bike that she named “Jazzy”. (I had a cat named “Jasmine”, and I used to call her “Jazzy”, too.) There is something unique about a person who names an inanimate object, like a bike. People name boats. People name homes. People name cars. So, why not a bike? However, I recall something Joseph Campbell said about naming things. It was something like, ‘When you name something you make it a “thou”.’ I think he meant that you give it a soul.

‘3-Minute-Rule’ – Beasties

She adheres to a vegetarian, possibly vegan, diet, and I think that is how I found her on 43Things. (I have been sticking to a vegetarian and sometimes vegan diet for a couple of years now, but, recently, I have decided that I want to be flexible about meat, and I’ve eaten chicken, fish, and even… da-da-duh… sausage :O, which gave me the runs and wasn’t very good, anyway.)

I decided I didn’t want to be “a vegetarian”. I don’t like the label. i don’t like the stigma. I don’t like the stereotype. I can handle it when people know that “I don’t eat meat”, but to be “a vegetarian” is to take on so much baggage—“hippie”, “treehugger”, “animal rights activist”, “environmental activist”, “liberal”... I just want to be me. And I sometimes eat meat. (rarely, but sometimes)

Why did I stop eating meat, in the first place? I thought it would make me healthier. I thought it would make me leaner. I thought it would give me enlightenment. That was only partly true, as most things are.

Back to cherise…

‘Peace Frog’ – The Doors

She has lots of livejournal and myspace friends, and must be using the internet on a constant basis. (that sounds familiar : )

‘Novacane’ – Beck

She also seems very literate and smart. She has made all kinds of posts about reading books that appear to be rather complex, deep, and serious, more for the scholar than the normal entertainment reader (I mean the books, not the posts, but she has posted some very smart posts).

She wants to meet Noam Chomsky, and I would too. She wants to meet Angelina Jolie (crazy woman!!!), and I would too. She wants to meet either Amelie (the character) or Audrey (the actor who played her), and I definitely would too.

? – Radiohead

She has at least one tattoo, and it is a star. I have two, and I love them. They rock. I like stars too.

She seems like a very busy girl. I can’t focus on one thing at a time.

She writes poetry. I eat poetry. (that doesn’t make sense)

‘Tick Tock’ – Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs

That is why I looked at her profile. That is why it would be cool if she said hello.
